Education
Both formal and informal.
I began pulling away from formal education after about the seventh grade. I dropped out of high school in my junior year. I found that it was not challenging or engaging enough to keep me focused. I ended up getting my GED from the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program. (center row, far right)
I eventually returned to formal education after many years earning an Accounting Clerk Certificate from the community college and even managed to earn an associate degree in Business Administration & Accounting. I even transferred to Portland State University and completed three of the four years needed to get a bachelor’s degree in accounting before running out of financial aid. I do intend to finish that up some day.
Numbers have always made sense to me. My passion has always been technology. I received my first computer in 1989. My grandmother gave it to me as a birthday present when I was eight. Before even turning it on, I took it completely apart. My parents were so frustrated, but; grandma said, “It’s his, if he wants to take it apart let him.” And so, I did just that. After having reassembled it, I was hooked on computers for life. I have been building custom PCs ever since.
I have recently become a Certified ProAdvisor for QuickBooks Online. I have completed their courses for QuickBooks online Levels 1 & 2, QuickBooks Online Payroll & QuickBooks Desktop. I am still earning more badges and continuing my courses with Intuit.
